One of the greatest assets that we as a nation collectively reflect is the pioneering spirit that looks to the horizon, instead of clinging to the past. This has led to great innovation in our country, but right now we are being held hostage by our representatives in Washington who have many reasons to support the status quo. My opponent has made it clear that he does not want any further government assistance in health care insurance, which indicates his willingness to allow countless Americans to go either underinsured or completely uninsured.

The inevitability of Senator Ted Kennedy’s death does not make it any easier. His passion to help the less fortunate left its mark on Medicare, Medicaid, children’s health care, and education, to name a few. Senator Kennedy rose from the ashes of much turmoil in his life to give us inspiration to strive for higher goals. He will be sorely missed, not only in the halls of Congress, but throughout America as well.
